S.F.C. - Soldiers For Christ (Christian Rap)

If their 1995 album, "Illumination", (thumbnail pic) is anything to go by, this is another unique style of Christian rap. The rap style in this album goes from typical rap to people reading poetry.

Example lyrics from Track 8: "How I Cope"

Hey, hey, hey!
Hey, hey, hey!

Uh. Walk by faith and not by sight
That's right, but where I dwell is far from sinful
When I don't know Simon, I feel like Gilligan
Because I'm trapped on this island, try'in to keep my mind intact
I know the Lord has got my back, but still I wants to grab my gap
For some food and might try to jack me and my family
Yeah, why you'd be trippin'
I ain't got no time to grab the phone and be callin' Andy Griffith
Two-dudes-in-the-middle-of-the-street Griffith
Half of my homies are smoked out or in prison
Off the one-eighty-seven, two-eleven
One had nothing so he felt driven to some crack
But the reason why Hina my man was in love for some like phat
So he played Esau; sold his birthrights to fly high like a kite
But one night the wind started blowing hard and the sky came falling down
Was the sound from the lead shower
Now we gotta do a car wash to buy flowers and a casket
Of people asking how I hack it
Man it ain't no joke
If I didn't have this I couldn't cope

Livin' by the Word
That's how I cope
In this mixed up world
Man it ain't no joke
Man I'm Livin' by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this crazy world
It ain't no joke
But I'm livin by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this mixed up world
Man it ain't no joke
Man I'm living by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this mixed up world

Man, try'in to do right ain't no joke
I hate being broke
Sometimes I wanna go sell dope
But I be knowin' what that route's all about
So that thought's quickly exed out
And I continue
To make moves that'd get me off this path a' countin' change for gas
Living greatly, legally, is how I wanna be
But dwellin in NY is like a gangsta movie
Everybody in town wants to be Neeno Brown
Shoot-you-down or a cop, 'n celebrate
Like it's proper
Girls gettin' flirty
Attracted to this type
Then they got the nerve to say, "Where you been all night?"
Like what did you expect? Oh, you ain't no woman for him
Just another hoar with no goal
Worry or not what you may be tommorrow
As long as you don't have to wake up and borrow
Try'in to smile, but I see the sorrow in your eyes
You'se a queen
But you got to do the right thing and let God bring you a king.
Check it.

Livin' by the Word
That's how I cope
In this mixed up world
Man it ain't no joke
Man I'm Livin' by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this crazy world
Because it ain't no joke
But I'm livin by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this mixed up world
Man it ain't no joke
Man I'm living by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this crazy world

In the psychoptic, demonic, possesed, oppressed
Express yourself; be free--but are you free, or free to be captivity?
Forget that remedy?
That was set up in three
It's a myth to me
But when you look around
You see everything they wrote and spoke from famitude
Nation against nation
Physical and mental molestation
Who you are can be found in the stars, crystals, cards
Behind my bars
Guards from hard shifts
But don't trip
This life can't be beat--yeah right!
Watch your head for black rain
And people diving off buildings
Who can't handle the pain
I pack my King James
Aim my scope at lost souls--bang!
Let it fly; the target is you,
When it hits, the carnal man is through
The Holy Spirit now lives in you
Walkin' around the streets quottin' Romans 12:2,
'Cause your life is brand new.
Check it.

Livin' by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this mixed up world
Man it ain't no joke
But I'm livin' by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this crazy world
It ain't no joke
Man I'm livin by the Word
Yeah that's how I cope
In this mixed up world
Because it ain't no joke
Man I'm living by the Word
Yeah that's how a brother copes
In this crazy world--world.
